DEANGELO
Director/Choreographer/Producer Is an expert in all types of dance, with an illustrious career that spans almost four decades as a dancer, choreographer, director, teacher, and producer. A former principal dancer of the Joffrey Ballet, She was featured in Time Magazine as one of America's most outstanding ballerinas, and in the New York Times as “one of America's most spectacular dancers”. She later was the Associate Director of the Joffrey Ballet when the company moved to Chicago. Before that she was Artistic Director of Ballet D’Angelo, and founding Artistic Director of Ballet de Monterrey, Mexico. She has choreographed 70 works including two musicals in China. Her “The Bell Witch” ghost-story was nominated for a Benois de la Danse Award and a segment of it was performed at the Bolshoi Theater, in Moscow. DeAngelo has produced and directed multi-genre dance extravaganzas for the Tony-Award winning organization Career Transition for Dancers at City Center, and for both Capezio’s 125th and 130th Anniversary shows. Some dance talent personalities have included Paula Abdul, Ephrat Asherie, Marge Champion, Misty Copeland, DNA, Michele Dorrance, Michael Douglas, Robert Fairchild, Sutton Foster, Savion Glover, David Hallberg, Marvin Hamlisch, Dule Hill, Lex Ishimoto, Catherine-Zeta Jones, James Earl Jones, Jane Krakowski, Angela Lans- bury, Nigel Lythgoe, Shirley MacLaine, Ann-Margret, Liza Minnelli, Bebe Neu- Wirth, Rosie O’Donnell, Ann Reinking, Chita Rivera, Brooke Shields, Tommy Tune, Ben Vereen, Travis Wall, Wendy Whelan, and Karen Ziemba along with numerous ballet and modern dance companies. DeAngelo continues to teach for dance companies, universities, and summer courses and was a movement coach to Bette Midler. Her book, “Produce Yourself! Stand Up! Step Up! & Move!” is a rich dance/life metaphor that can serve as a useful tool for anyone seeking the courage to realizing their goals.
